ONCE a fishing village, Akbük is 15 km. from Altinkum, on the way to Bodrum airport, and a place where real Turkish tradition is still a part of daily life. A backdrop of tree-covered mountains and forests which slope down towards the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea create a magical setting.
Akbük, set within a calm-watered bay is a safe place for all the family to enjoy. There are local restaurants to cater to all tastes, with traditional cuisine on offer, as well as a good selection of fresh fish.
The town centre is very self contained, with a sufficient selection of shops for day to day needs, the usual weekly market takes place on Fridays throughout the year. There is a small harbour where the local fishing boats dock after their day at sea.
There are many smaller beaches dotted all around the bay and Akbük is still within touching distance of the main resort of Altinkum, but far enough away to experience Turkey for what it is.
